Or that she's a bitch because of a slap she gave Sonic when he was offered an ultimatum.
First off, you can't really blame her...the girl nearly lost her parents at one point and not only that her father nearly forced her to marry a person she didn't even want.
The girl has a lot on her plate if you think about it and if people wanna hate her because she's a Mary Sue then...that's just stupid and hypocritical considering if she's a Mary Sue...then Sonic might as well be one too.

I've always loved Sally and Sonic together, just happens at that particular time she was being a bitch. You can't expect Sonic to sit around when there's a war going on, he like's to contribute and be involved. Plus he's not really the regal type, it's been shown repeatedly that he'd chafe under a position of royalty but for some reason they keep making out like if he and Sally aren't calling the shots everything will go to hell.
