He gave me the additional challenge of painting a specific place. Not just 'ruin' but 'these ruins right here' and I jumped at the challenge. I scoured the internet for photos and used what I could to create these Manitoba ruins. I have to admit the bison were more of a challenge than I expected, and I didn't render them out as much as I had planned. I couldn't find clear enough pictures of them for one, and second, they're made from this dark bronze metal, it's hard to really see shape in a photo. I think they read alright, but I never got 100% pleased with them.
I know the red was a bit of a harsh color but I really wanted to drive home that this once pale and peaceful place was really crushed under the fist of something horrible. And only bit and pieces of what remained is still there. Which of course our hero is digging through here. :P
