Andrewsarchus mongoliensis is only known from a skull lacking a lower jaw, and is mostly reconstructed by guesswork and related species - no juvenile specimens are known, so these are pure speculation. Because infant mammals have less defined features than adults, I've given them shorted skulls without the characteristic deep indent in the muzzle.

This is an amazing picture. I thought from the thumbnail that this was perhaps a photo - a photo of a model, perhaps, but still a photo. Looking at it in its full detail, it looks like something you'd see in a color plate of a coffee table book
And I have to admit... they are kind of cute...

It sure would be something if they found more remains of these creatures. I've always been fascinated by them, primarily, why so little remains have been found. Though they are so ancient it is very unlikely remains will be found with enough in tact DNA to try to recreate one so we can see for ourselves what they looked like, it is interesting to note that by 2015 we might have Wooly Mammoths returning to the earth o.o I'd love to see that happen with these guys as well, though as much as I love them, I doubt I'd ever attempt to pet one at the petting zoo ;)
