I feel obliged to point out that "Tube rat" is a misleading term. Weasels are no more rodents than bears, seals, or dogs.

That being said, it's always sweet to see a new weasel pic!

It's actually something that's pretty common with a lot of species. People just see an animal walking around or a plant growing, ask what it is, but since nobody knows, they just name it after what it looks.

It's the same with Pineapples - they're not pines, nor are they apples. They're actually bromeliads. The common name "Pineapple" originated because to non-Pacific islanders, they looked like pinecones, but when you cut them up, they tasted a little like apple.

Weasel, ferret, otter...pretty much any mustelid, really. ^.^
