The third batch of soap made to be well and cured by the holidays. This one is trying another pouring method, and some marbling on the top. It's scented with Peppermint essential oil.

There are a few factors that go into how gentle a soap is, and they vary from person to person. If it's just a matter of your skin getting dried out and breaking out, then that comes down to how much the soap strips oils away from the skin. We make our soaps with an 8% lye discount so they are not on the drying side of things. That means that 8% of the oils we use in the batch, are still oil in the finished soap, and can help prevent the soap from stripping away all the good natural oils in your skin. If it's a mater of colors and scents causing the problem that's very difficult to predict. It's considered "safe" to put roughly one ounce of fragrance per pound of oils in a batch of soap. That produces a crazy strong smelling soap that leaves your skin still smelling like what you washed with. WE prefer to go on the lighter end of things, and scent our soap with roughly half an ounce of fragrance per every two pounds of oils, meaning 1/4th the recommended amount of scent. Our soaps don't smell as strongly, but at least they are not as irritating as some strongly scented soaps. In the end, if you're going to react to a scent, there's not much that can be done if you're allergic. We can never guarantee that our soap won't bring anyone out in a rash, but we never ever push the envelope of industry standards, and try to stay on the side of caution. We can do un-scented batches.
