So I decided to try and see if I could paint over (or, technically, under) my sketches in Photoshop to get a little more texture from the scanned-in paper. So far it's looking pretty good, but I'm probably not even ten-percent done with the painting so we'll see how it goes.

The idea behind the sketch itself was that dragons would like to come out during a solar eclipse to dance in the sky. I wanted to show the sun as it was just rising in the sky, with the moon looming above it.

I need to go back and work on the sunrise again, because it looks to sunset-ey. I think I need to fade in to warmer oranges and violets - the color-scheme gets too cool at the top and looks too much like a sunset.

I specifically wanted a clear sky for the sunrise so that the effects of the two solar bodies wouldn't be lost in a haze - but that's getting hard to do because the most beautiful sunrises I've witnessed always have clouds obscuring and refracting the light :/ I guess I need to change my original concept.

I'm still not totally set on the color-scheme for the dragon in the foreground (a female.) I know that if I use a lot of reds, oranges, and yellows that a good turqoise color would work good for the background color-scheme - but I'm going to play around with everything for a bit just to see if I can get it all to come together.
