My old avatar, not very descriptive in this half-done state, but it used to have wing-stalk-thingies on its back, 2 pairs of arms with 4 fingers each, long tail, and sparse fluffy-stuff, long-ish ears, two lil' horns, dozen or so eyes and cute widdle mouth :)

The grid lines you see are guides for perspective and the surface the character was touching (a stone wall). Didn't use such very commonly except when I tried to do more interesting perspectives (and not always even then).
