I've placed an ancient fossil next to a modern sea shell in this image, which I think proposes a contrast between the old and new. It also shows some traits which have remained prominent in living organisms in the sea throughout geological deep time; having a spiral shell.
A lot has changed, but the common descent between these creatures is still evident. It's satisfying that life on earth has developed forms which endure, it provides a time less feel.

But, I have the chonce to live in Switzerland, I can find plenty of interesting minerals in my area (especially malachite and interesting types of quartz)
