When you suffer the curse of imagination, you're blessed with suck and cursed with awesome at the same time. Your mind is constantly racing, besting itself to present you new views of the mundane reality.
My trip to Ireland this year was basically this. My sketchbook is filled with old crumbling ruins guided by dragons, unicorns hidden in glades or old, gloomy woods filled with chimaeras.
Final piece for the book (whee, centerfold), if gods stand by me, it's going to print tomorrow. Wish me luck! I just wish my tablet stopped screwing over the hues and saturation. Also, sorry for spacing out the past month or so, preparing stuff for printing is such a pain in the ass... I'll be back to work on September 30th, when I come back from EAST.
And a note for conspiracy theorists: this has nothing to do with... it. This image/sketch/idea is almost three years old, for crying out loud...
Also, mental note - if you like yourself, don't draw stacked stone walls. Or at least stacked stone walls covered with ivy.

Ah, that's nothing major. Just people who know me personally found themselves a new hobby this year connected to pestering me about one thing ad nauseam and find every little excuse to do so :)
And thank you. Personal note, if you ever get the chance to visit the country, go west to the Atlantic coast, arround Burren and Cong. It has one of the most magical looking landscapes I've ever seen.

His pose looks oddly rigid, and he doesn't seem to really be sitting there. Unfortunately this distracts from a gorgeous scene...
You see, I love the rocks. I love the rolling hills, the features that cover them, the sky is grandly soothing, and I really like the foreground animals. The dragon inspiration theme is even cool.
The whole thing reminds me of The Elder Scrolls - Oblivion.

Well, when you're as big as I am and try to balance on something that thin, you do have to keep your body a bit rigid in order not to fall over or melt around the sides. But true, I did mess up the anatomy a lot. I'll try to get better next time.
And my, I haven't played Oblivion in ages. I wish I could remedy that.

I didn't like Skyrim. Empty world, unintersting gameplay, glitchy dragons, no story, no characters. I haven't felt that lonely in a videogame ever before. The music was gorgeous, but that's about everything. Plus, a game company that charges full price for a game while at the same time obviously counting on the fans adding half the content themselves, nope, that won't get my money.
Which is a pity, considering how much I loved Bloodmoon and its atmosphere. For Oblivion, I don't have the time/motivation. I enjoyed it, but I have better games to spend time with.

You bulls-eyed a bunch of those "key things" that sucked about it. But also making dragons all suicidal mindless monsters was pretty lame. Godzilla had more depth. Clashed with Oblivion's lore too.
But one of the things that I liked least was the factions. Most of the major factions were such Dbags that I didn't want to help any of them. I made the Blades non-essential just so I could exterminate them permanently. :-P
O'well. PC games aren't doing so hot in general this decade.

And with those key things, I cannot say "Skyrim's not bad" and mean it. Especially plot, story and characters inhabiting a world are absolutely essential for my own gaming experience. That's why I'll rather spend time with Nathan Drake, Cole McGrath or Commander Shepard.
But I wouldn't say we haven't had enough good PC games. There's Guild Wars 2, Assassin's Creed series, StarCraft II, The Witcher... lots of stuff.

Yeah, it's awesome when you get all the ideas, but it sucks not to have the necessary skill to turn them real. Or when you end up giggling through an academy lecture because your brain just tossed you a bone to chew on and thanks to it, Middle East Crisis was never funnier to behold...
