Well, things seem to be going swimmingly for our heroine. Give me a list in comments of the things you think she ought to divest herself of to be more hydrodynamic. Thankfully, this is the South Pacific and the water's pretty warm.

Boots would probably be the heaviest, gloves probably also impair her ability to swim. The rest... goggles might actually help her out with seeing in the salt water, and while probably uncomfortable the rest of her clothes shouldn't weigh her down that much unless 1940's-ish clothes are heavier then I realize.
Boots, gloves, jacket, in that order. Gloves before jacket mainly because she'd need to take them off first. Leather jackets are a complete b***h to swim in, so it has to go. That should let her get to the surface to lose the scarf and flight helmet but keep her goggles. After that, the jodphurs would likely need to go, though she could potentially tie them to make a crude flotation device
Ditch the boots, gloves and jacket at the very least. The helmet once she reaches the surface.
Try to keep the jodphurs at the very least, cause whatever she has in her pockets will go far in staying alive. Even a simple pocket knife will go a long ways to helping out, let alone what else is still with her.

Gloves, boots, helmet (she may want the goggles for swimming, if she can think to keep them), Maybe the jacket off, so she can move her arms better. By the time she has discarded that much, she had better be heading up to the surface to get some air, and not taking the time to take more off. Without the boots, she should be able to kick pretty well in the jodhpurs. At the surface maybe she can think through what she wants to wear to get to the island.
(Wonderful undersea color images! Those bubbles!)

I vote on a rather different approach, instead of ditching anything, all she needs is to remove her boots and hold them under her armpits, her legs alone are good enough to propel her through the waters back to surface. She is going to need all the gear she can get, after all she has fur to protect her body from the cold of the night, but i bet the soles of her feet aren't as sturdy as eons of evolution ago.
Logically speaking, she must discard the heaviest parts of her wardrobe so definitely the boots, helmet and pants. Although removing MORE at this time would make for greater fanservice, if one is thinking logically, losing those three items should be enough to allow her to swim to the surface.
Boots! Definitely gloves as well. Beyond that, it's a wait and see situation. Considering the water's warmer, shouldn't be a temperature concern. Oh, and most likely the goggles/helmet. Just encumbering, there.
Like how you're doing the water effect for these. It's not obscuring, but very clear as to where she is.

Baggy or otherwise heavy items would likely get in the way of swimming... I would suggest losing the gloves, shirt, belt, boots, pants... hat as well, if necessary.
Not necessarily toss the lot, but keep going down the list until you run out of things to lose, or you hit surface, whichever happens first.
