Charles 'Chuck' Miner was a member of the comedy troupe The Four Fools, a popular act in Seathl back in the mid-Thirties to 1940. The act consisted of a variety of jokes of varying degrees of coarseness, along with song, dance, physical violence and flatulence. As a result, their radio show was usually aired at 10:30 PM, after children had gone to bed.
Chuck, a wolf, was described as being peculiarly dim-witted, as well as depressed. Well, you try being a wolf who's a committed vegetarian, and you'd be depressed as well. Not to mention flatulent; many of the jokes in the radio shows turned on fart jokes directed at the "bloody lupine gasworks."
He's shown here with a clothespin on his nose and a spear of broccoli in his paw. Chuck's actually a bit of a sympathetic character.
