Learned a lot doing this one, really enjoy the turnout.
There was a chill in the air hinting at the coming of fall, a soft breeze rustling the changing leaves and blowing them from their branch homes. Birds flew overhead in flocks, heading south for warmer weather, noisly calling to each other in their formations.
In the woods below there was a well worn path dotted with a few fallen leaves here and there. A brave squirrel stopped at one side of the path and looked quickly from side to side, making sure there was nothing coming before darting across to the other side and disappearing into the woods. A few small birds pecked at bits and pieces of crumbs dropped by joggers and walkers making their way across the winding path.
Just as the squirrel disappeared into the woods, a couple made their way up the path, holding hands and giggling with each other. The chilly air seemed only to lighten their spirits, as if washing away the unbearable summer heat and giving them room to breath. On her arm, the feline carried a woven picnic basket and a checkered blanket.
They continued up the path until they found an open clearing surrounded by trees. There were two rather large rocks almost in the middle of the clearing as if they were placed there on purpose to be seats. The smiling feline placed the blanket down on the grass by the rocks and sat the picnic basket down on the blanket. She then took a seat on one of the rocks and pulled her mate down onto the rock next to her.
"I'm so glad we finally had some free time to make it out here," she said softly, still holding her mate's hand and looking into his eyes. He returned her smile and nodded.
"As am I," he whispered, pulling her in for a long, deep, passionate kiss, taking in her scent mixed with the fall scents around them. It had turned out to be quite a lovely day.
