I heard myself say,
word up sister,
a strong wind could take me away"
More color experimentation in Painter. Fah. I keep thinking I'm getting bolder and understanding colors better and it still comes out looking so boring. :|

Ooh! I happened on this by chance, but I have to say I love this picture. The colors are really nice together, and the markings are really nice, especially on the back half of the griffin (vulpegriff? I see that's what you put for the species). I also really, really like that the griffin has fox ears. I don't know why, I just find that incredibly cool. I haven't seen too many people who draw their griffins with ears...
Anyway, I'll stop babbling and just say that I really like it. =D *fave!*

Thanks! :D Yes, Fareme is what I call a 'vulpegryph' - it's not an 'official' term but a term coined by my good friend Crystal Phoenix about 8 years ago. Fareme's mammal half is that of a red fox - hence the fox ears and fox-butt. ;D There are a /few/ of us fox-gryphons around, though not very many. Before I made Fareme, I wasn't aware of /any/ - though I later found out that Frysco had a grey fox gryphon character if I remember correctly. Now there seem to be a few more out there. :}
Anyway, thanks so much! I'm glad you like this little doodle of mine and I appreciate the kind words. ^^
As for earless gryphons, I'm the exact opposite! I never really see people drawing their gryphons /without/ ears, but then again I've been hanging out at the Gryphon's Guild for the past 8 years or so, so I guess us Guilders are accustomed to ears. :P Hee!

Yeah, it makes sense like a lot of other hybrid names do. Like folf for fox/wolf or something. And yes, I noticed the vulpine tendencies.
Haha...well, you inspired me to try to draw a griffin with ears, because I think it'd turn out much better than one without. I absolutely love how this one looks.
