Speaking of using coffee, I've had the idea since my friends do it too. Why I still haven't tried it is beyond me! That stuff is like a whole other form of watercolor ink.

I suggest you use instant coffee because it allows you to control how dark it is

Also, it smells good at first but I smells pretty stale after a few hours/days

The only thing I worry about it rot. Then again, do coffee stains really "go bad?"

No, its a stain.......but if you're worried about mold use a hair dryer......I used one to speed up the process since this was a Multics step stain

Nice! I'll probably try some this weekend. What would you recommend as a starting point? Do I go about it the same way as india ink?

Ya.....unless you want it to bleed like I made it do, you flip it over and paint on the backside to do that
