i did one of the worst things i could ever do to someone, and it has always been a strong rule of mine never to do. and breaking it has broken my heart a bit an di thought i should draw it out to try and get over it.

not to sound too distant or callous, but trying to say you never want to break someones heart is awfully idealistic and for most, something of an impossibility. After all, the only way to really avoid this entirely is to simply not love at all and, well, is that really living? The heart is a fickle thing and that's a part of the magic and charm of living. While its only natrual to regret from time to time, do not fret on it or let yourself become discouraged; it really is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.
And just to clarify the point of you cant love and not break someones heart: one of our regulars walked into the pizzeria nearly in tears. Bobs wife of over forty years was just diagnosed with brain cancer, and its pretty bad. A very few months left to live bad, and instead of even trying late stage therapy, she has decided not to, its simply her time. That pain is still one of a now broken and forever incomplete heart, dispute the fact that to the best of my knowledge they have loved each other to the fullest for most of their lives. Its not about hurting others after, its about loving them now, and making it count.
Not saying you shouldn't cry, that's actually a pretty healthy thing to do. Just sayin don't worry yourself senseless over it, and keep on trying your best, that is the best anyone can do.
and *hugs* just cause it looks like you can use one.
