A piece I did for the Native American Portfolio. Not to often you get to see a Wolverine. This particular piece took me days to finish because of all the little detail. I really wanted to capture the fierceness of the wolverine so I made him into a tough warrior ready for anything. Done with mechanical pencils on 11x14 Bristol.

The amount of detail in this piece is just astonishing. The character, the pose, the expression, the blades, the armor, the trinkets and little details of fur and everything... Just... mind-blowing amount of detail. And the picture looks truly magnificent all in all.
He looks really native, a hunter, a warrior. The expression is great, it looks intimidating, but it seems he is smiling as well, maybe daring his opponent. "Can you take it? Come on, can you take it? You know you can't, and you know I know you can't, I'm the boss here, I'm the boss." Really self-assured stance and expression.
The weapons and armor design is quite interesting. His equipment is rather decorated. Maybe he is waring a sort of a ritual armor, he's not going to war but showing the wealth and skills of him and his people. Or maybe the idea is to just intimidate, the strange runes and trinkets creating a sort of warrior/shaman feel, scaring his opponents, the enemy is afraid of his arcane and supernatural skills. His face might be in snarl, but in truth he might be drawing breath to sing his battle-song.
Yeah, he looks really fierce and intimidating. I wish there would be a some kind of "+super-favorite" here to express how great a work this is, but maybe my comment will suffice. Once again, the picture is truly magnificent, the amount of detail is something really awesome, and I like this illustration very much. A grand piece of art.
