Drawn by hand, pixel-by-pixel, using Grafx2.
Explanation of the name (based on my understanding):
野 (Japanese[音]ya, Mandarin yě): field; plain; open space; limit; boundary; rude; feral
魔 (Jap.[音]ma, Mand. mó): a demon; a devil; monster; apparition; (evil)
兔 (Jap.[音]to, Mand. tù): rabbit; (hare)
- 魔 is the first character of 魔法少女 (Mahou shoujo, "Magical girls").
- 野兔 tends to mean 'hare' as opposed to 'rabbit'.
- Yamato (conventionally spelt 大和) has connotations of "Old Japan" (see Yamato Nadeshiko)
So yeah, 'punny' would be understating it :3 At Feral 2012, I think
rikoshi was the only one who pointed out the meaning of the squiggles on my con badge.
I would love to turn this design into a kind of metallic name tag for my collar~~ if only I knew how.
