Resuming my celebrity 'photo-ops' series - for my latest 'sweeps month' (September, 2012) - we return to another "Creation Convention" in New York City (this one being the same con, where I got to see "Star Trek" co-star George Takei, back in the late 1980s).
This time, the personality is character actress Marina Sirtis, who portrayed 'Deanna Troi', the half-human/half-Betazoid counselor aboard the Starship Enterprise in the syndicated sci-fi series "Star Trek: The Next Generation". We see her giving a lecture (about her career and her [then] ongoing role on "ST:TNG"), accompanied by two anonymous (and very well-dressed) Klingons!
Sirtis admitted, during said lecture, she was glad that the writing staff had expanded her dialogue, after Season One. She didn't want her lines to be reduced simply to "I sense hostility" or "I'm sensing anguish" (telepathy being a familiar trait of most Betazoids). It would be some episodes later, when the show took a unique turn, by having 'Troi' show a romantic interest in 'Commander William Riker' (played by Jonathan Frakes), and vice versa.
Naturally, you can find out more about Marina Sirtis (and her post-"ST:TNG" life) by going to Wikipedia...
...and I'll have some more 'photo-op' to display, later this month!
