The Slikai are scary mosquito/fly things with a serious hoarding habit. They're also pretty hard to kill, as - if their main body is destroyed - the mass on their tail will develop into an exact duplicate, complete the transferred consciousness of the individual. The dead body will then break open into a mass of eggs after a few hours (they breed by self-fertilization).
They are one of 36 planned sentient alien species that'll feature in my Panentheia novel series.
[Appearance almost directly based off an entry in Keith Thompson's "50 Robots to Draw and Paint". I plan on creating a more original version at some point.]
