Five years ago this month, my best friend passed away of old age. This also happens to be the month in which he was born. It seemed an appropriate time to create this tribute to his wonderful life, and all he did for me. One can ask for no better friend than a pet, and Wolfy really was an amazing best friend. As an American Eskimo dog, he LOVED the snow, even when he grew too old to appreciate much else. I will always remember him as a wild Rocky Mountain dog, exploring the pines and aspens. I imagine his spirit still there, wandering the snowy silence of the forest whenever the winter comes.
The talented FoxAmoore has composed a song that accompanies this painting! Please listen to the song while you look at the illustration, it really completes the feeling we were both attempting to get across as artists.

Words cannot express how I feel looking at this beautiful piece of art, and listening to the song that goes with it.
It is truly beautiful, and both pieces work so well together.
I imagine Wolfy is running free in the snow somewhere, thinking of you in much the same way you think of him.
May happiness rain upon your glittering snow scene

I got chills listening to the music while looking at this piece. <3 It's great to have a dog like that in your life, that they could leave such an impact on you that years later you still celebrate his life like this. I'm the same way with the dachshund I lost 2 years ago. He was my little soul mate, and I cherish the memories I've had with him. I've got another dachshund now, whom I got after Rebel's passing, and while it was a shaky start our bond has really built up and I look forward to the years with him as well.
Sorry, so many feels! <3

Glad that there's been somebody that has helped you out. <3 It's actually a good thing you're holding off like that, I was too rushed because I wanted somebody straight after in hopes that the void would instantly be filled. I was still angry and upset over the loss, and it really put a damper on things with me and the newer dog. But he's been very patient with me, and things are just wonderful now. <3
I hope that one day you will be able to find yourself ready again, and be able to be given the perfect opportunity to find a friend that will love you as much as Wolfy did, and that you can return the same amount of affection. Dogs are such wonderful companions. It's amazing how much they can do for a person's mind and soul.

Both this image and the music are beautiful works of art. The way you've rendered the snow's ridges and sparkles is extraordinary - reminds me of a really beautiful game 'Journey' that I played once (only video game I've ever played that's super relaxing). Really lovely work
A short while ago I watched Journey be played all the way through and was so truck by the SPARKLY SAND, and I definitely had that in mind while painting this. I even listened to the Journey soundtrack mixed with more of Fox's music while painting. I am more than pleased that someone else made that connection. =D
Chills whilst listening to the music! I really love this piece, the rendering is fabulous. I just really love how you accomplished the shifting tones in the snow and the sparkles! I don't think I've ever seen someone do snow like that. Added with the fact the powerful story/message behind the painting that I think many can relate to.
It reminds me of my childhood dog which although wasn't my first dog it was the first we had from a puppy to old age. I trained her and spent most of my time with her until I had to move to Canada for school and was devastated when she died and I couldn't get home to see her in her last year. I still think about her 4 years on almost daily, despite having another dog which we got from a humane society. Our new dog is wonderful and I wouldn't change her for the world but there's something so unique about having a dog in those important years of your life and growing up as they grow up too.
*hugs* thank you for sharing this with us.

Oh man, sparkling snow looks so beautiful. This i would defently want framed in my house.
I love the theme as well, every morning ive been walking and seeing the sparkles of morning dew on the grass and i can't help but want to paint it, then splash sprinkles on the picture.
Awesome work~

Both the music and the image are fantastic and they do compliment each other amazingly well. My old dog Joris, a golden retriever who passed away four years ago is still strong in my memories, and it's music and art like this that brings them back. Only he wasn't much of a winter dog, he preferred autumn and spring when he could either get all muddy and wet or chase after air-balloons and roll in the fresh grass ^^.
Well done and thanks for the memories! :)

My eyes tear up every time you post Wolfy art ;^; There is always clearly so much love involved with your paintings, and even moreso when it's coming from your heart. I also miss a best friend of mine who I lost about 3 years ago now. My beautiful little black kitty. I sometimes still cry for him. So I know exactly how it feels.
Fox Amoore is amazing.

Eskies are special little dogs I miss mine alot... he was a goofball along with my Husky. Hopefully someday you can get another dog that will help you along. My DemonPom has help me in not forgetting my other dogs but kept them alive. He alike all three of the ones I've lost, yet he still his own little man.
*has a warm eskie curled up behind her on the bed* I just adore your Wolfy tributes <3 This one though...is just..stunning. It grips my heart when I look at it, and I'm not sure it's just because I'm so partial to eskies myself. This painting is so beautiful on its own in composition, colour palette, and details. Your love and dedication shows through in all the work you put into it. Are you offering prints of this, by chance?
It sounds like your dog was a great companion and a wonderful friend. Both this illustration and the music that Fox Amoore composed made me tear up. At the end of this month, it will be a year since I lost my own doggy friend Pim. The thought that his spirit might be wandering the places he loved most in his life is a soothing and reassuring thought.
Here's to our pets and the best friends we can ever hope to have.
