TAKE. FIVE. GOSH DARNIT.
This is the silicone layer for the FIFTH ATTEMPT at making a pretty horn mold. My fourth one was soooooo close! I made the mistake of poking the first layer with a popsicle stick a little too long after I mixed my silicone leaving three crescent shaped dents in my finished mold. I made sure to just walk away after a certain point and let any bubbles just work their way out on their own this time.
This is just the silicone layer; I will make a mother mold later this week, if not tomorrow. Today was the first time I've used silicone pigments. They're great! I can see how even each layer is and mixing the two parts evenly is easier. I bought them from Brick In The Yard because they sell them in little 1oz jars, saving me some dough.
Please note: The white ridges aren't part of the horn. They are registration keys, allowing the floppy silicone to more accurately rest in the hard shell mother mold.
--Materials Used--
Smooth-On's Dragon Skin 10 MEDIUM
BITY's silicone pigments in yellow, red and white.
Whoops, forgot to put this in my scraps.
