It's most likely LED Wire or LED Lights wired together c: I figured I might be able to help.

Thanks n.n. It's basically leds stuffed in there (in one location) ,but I defused the light a bit for an more equal glow.

OMG, LED sequencers? Epic! Are these gonna be programmed via Arduino? Or are you using a sort of home few sequence driver chipset? Totally gotta poke your brain now. It's rare I see anyone going to that extra extreme. Tons of respect here. <3

I'll be using an Arduino (Uno R3) on them :D. I'm really excited to get started! Yeah , a few one my friends are a bit O-o ,but I have one that's really supportive of me giving this a try. I figured once I gave this a try I'd be branching out with other items :D.
I should be putting up a video on here of me testing it out the next week or so!

Arduinos are nice and simple. I did actually go the route a few years back with using a completely custom board using an LM3519 chip I think it was and hooked it to a bunch of EL wire. Worked great til I started sweating and getting shocks from the EL wire drivers. LOL LEDs are much nicer anyway. Low voltage and much more vivid colors. Totally interested in what sorta light show patterns you're gonna do... Or is it gonna be audio controlled? I got one suit that's in progress and its like wearing a giant VU meter (imagine that during furcon dances. ;3)

Hhhe yeah! So far it's been pretty easy :D , I'm pretty happy with it. That sounds really awesome until the sweating part :c. That's not fun at all LOL XD. That sounds like a neat set up though :D. I'd love to be able to work with elwire wired up to a controller. This time I won't be going with audio controlled ,but I'll probably give that a try another time. Soon I'll need to sit down and ask the commisioner what pattern or set of patterns he'd find the most interesting. That'll atleast start him off on a good start :D. After that he can just plug in the tail and tinker with the programming after he gets bored with the ones I gave him. That's the plan atleast haha!

Yeah I mean its not something that hasn't been done before I was just kinda making something that looked like what Blue Man Group has here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_os.....eature=related Which worked pretty well, but they use computer controlled ones and I didn't wanna have to be tethered to a computer is all. So I talked with Flux Roo and Fizz Otter, and got some good insight. Figured I should switch over to LEDs since the voltage is lower, they're cheaper, and much more brighter and vivid on the colors. EL wire is such a pain to solder compared to LEDs.

Just coming down to how I want the controller to work since I already got a suit made up. Just gotta get the electronics installed. haha. Was debating running some bluetooth speakers onto the suit so I can walk around and play music to em from my iphone without needing to be connected. But thats for sure something down the road when I get more money lol

One of my commisioned tails has elwire in it instead of LED's. I was suprised by how bright it was actually O_o. I prefer working with leds though and never had the real chance (other than a larpish staff thing) to really work with elwire. The soldering just intimidates me. xD. LED's not a problem! El wire.. WUT O-o...pain in the ass much?

Naw Flux as far as I know just makes his own roo suit and is a software roo by trade. I think thats DreamCreationStudios or something that does the LED claws.

And it sounds like you might have gotten the thicker brighter version of EL wire. Im guessing the driver still makes that annoying high pitched WHEEEEEEE sound... thats one reason its been turning me off lately. Plus the higher voltages makes me nervous for obvious reasons. X3 As for soldering EL wire yeah its... not easy. the inner core wire is easy to strip and solder but the outer wrapping wire is so tough. Its as thin as a hair so its super delicate and not easy to solder at times. LEDs you can just pop into connector cables from Frys. Or just buy a set of LED christmas lights! Hooray!

Oh bah! I remmeber there's someone else that does some really cool led claws. My friend has a pair. They are absolutly stunning ,down to the little stitching and details.

YES I have to admit I do like LED parts. Keep trying to come up with a personal critter who would use that sorta thing but still havent figured one out yet..

As far as the EL wire goes Im hearing theyre making kits with plug and play connectors now so you dont have to do the soldering. But yeah I got like some tools from harbor freight magnifying glasses to help with soldering but its sure not easy.

Yeah , I hear ya :c. I have another plan for some leds ,but I don't have a critter to make them for. I'd have to just have a random tail with no suit XD. I'm just bein particular though XD.
