
eeeyup. finally got it working. to get a texture to work in cycles when you convert an old blender file to cycles render engine, you must resave the packed in texture files to the folder where the .blend file itself is saved, or anywhere locally, but the .blend location is the safest bet. once saved, it will autmatically update instantly and VIOLA problem solved! added a displacement map, thanks for the quick tip on that lavik! everything is a mixed shader. emission and glossy. no diffuse, except for the wings mesh. added diffuse and glossy to make it not so dark, yet still reflective. i <3 cycles and how nice the lighting is, i hate cycles for all the workarounds i have to do... however, everything is as it should be now! though i probably should eventually UV unwrap the body and try to screw around with evening out the scales, however, with object orientation set as it is, i kinda like how the skewing take place rather nicely. makes it less uniform, and more armored, i might keep it this way.
