Why are adults so mean?

Poor Kedamono. Jonas is a douchebag.

My only reasoning to this is cause most of the village still views him as the village punching bag, even though when push came to shove he was the one that defeated all the gryphons and made them leave.

Had he known about the village attack beforehand he might have done it even sooner.

Also, its common grieving tactics to blame anything and everything for a huge loss in your life, most likely Jonas will turn on himself soon even and start going "I COULD HAVE DONE MORE!" or "I COULD HAVE TRAINED BETTER WITH WEAPONS THEN BEING A FISHERMAN!" etc etc
