As my latest 'sweeps month' (September, 2012) continues, so does my homage to Lya Korda - who passed away one year ago this month...
Here is another "Brow-Beat" cover she'd drawn in the past. And even though the owl (the MENSA mascot) is generally featured on covers of this monthly journal, that doesn't mean she can't draw other animals. For the September, 2003 issue, Lya rendered a pair of frogs in a swamp, beneath a moonlit sky.
I'd decided to post this image in a smaller size, as the nonagenarian artist (who was in her 80s at the time she's worked on this) seemed to had lost the idea of size and perspective. The frogs appear to be the size of humans, while a lone hedgehog (next to the front leg of the chaise lounge) is almost smaller than a leaf (or can easily be mistaken for a leaf). And it's not worth posting this in a larger size, just to show the details of said hedgehog.
Anyway, I'll have one more image by Ms. Korda before 'sweeps month' is over. So, watch for it...
