Even though I'd been posting 'photo-ops' of well-known personalities during this latest 'sweeps month' (September, 2012), I feel that I've been letting some of you down by not putting up at least one snapshot of me posing with a celebrity. So, let me rectify this situation, immediately...
A few 'sweeps months' back, I'd posted a 'photo-op' of myself with "Monty Python" member Terry Gilliam - taken in New York City, at a cinema that had the 'World Premiere' of his movie "Brazil" - which you can still see at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2060130/
Well, a few years after this encounter, Mr. Gilliam and I met again at another "Creation Convention" in midtown Manhattan - the very same one, where I was also able to snap a 'photo-op' of Leonard Nimoy, which I'd posted here in "FA", earlier this week.
At the time, Gilliam was in town to promote his (then) latest cinematic work, "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen". He gave a lecture at the con, followed by a screening of a trailer for the movie (which starred John Neville in the title role, "Monty Python" alumnus Eric Idle, and comedian Robin Williams as the 'Man in the Moon').
Wearing a special "Monty Python" T-shirt for the occasion, I gave someone my camera, and asked him to take a picture of me with Mr. Gilliam - which is what you're seeing now. Later on, during an autograph session (following his lecture), Terry was nice enough to autograph that last photo of the two of us from the mid-1980s. In return, I gave him a copy of my special anagram creation - which you can read about in "Me and Mr. Gilliam #1".
And, as always, you can go to Wikipedia, and see and learn more about the amazing credits of Minnesota-born Terry Gilliam - which include being a cartoonist, an editor for "Help!" (an early 1960s humor magazine, where he'd met yet-to-be "Monty Python" co-star John Cleese), an animator for a number of British TV shows (besides "MP"), and a complete list of the movies he'd directed.
