A Reimagining of the 2006 show Dino Squad.
WrathofAutumn,
Tazkol and I wrote this - I'll get a better summary in after Wrath gives me some.
Wrath's new connection doesn't allow him to connect to FurAffinity, so I will be posting this in his stead.
Description straight from the Fox's Mouth:
So here's the story behind the creation of this RP: My roomie Bryan just got a month-free trial of Netflix for the Wii so I decided to check it out. When looking through the kids section, I discovered a show called Dino Squad. And when I read the synopsis on how it was about a team of teenagers who transformed into dinosaurs, I was partly hyped over it. I thought it would kick some serious prehistoric tail...and it SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED!
My initial thoughts upon watching the show was that the scaley community must be punished for this abomination on Cookie Jar Entertainment's account. Then I found out a much more productive way to make use of this rage was do what the incompetent, professional writers couldn't: make something good out of it. So I looked for help from scalies to write it with me! :D
This is only one of thirteen episodes I intend to write out from start to finish. If it's successful, I might consider doing a sequel. :O Until then I'll have to bide my time and GO FOXY! *turns into a fox and runs away*

"Well first off the opening lecture on altruism was explained more thoroughly along changing the tone to some more appropriate for a biology teacher.
Veloci's business, vehicles and methods have all been changed due to how many conflicting plot elements there were in the show. The vehicles they use now resemble normal vehicles used today, the henchman dress like regular soldiers, and Victor Veloci himself actually makes use of a team of personal dinosaur elites for his missions. Victor Veloci himself is a velociraptor, like before, but will often lie and cheat and play unfairly to best opponents twice his size.
The scientist who delivered the nanomachines, in the show, neither has a name nor does he have any future appearances in the tv show. We are changing that to make him a major character in the RPs.
The team members of Dino Squad will now equally share established personalities and more identifiable roles and relationships with each other. Whereas in the television show, they had only the barest of such.
Ms. Moynihan's role as a mentor is played more with reason and not played out to being completely capable of doing everything on her own, also to make Victor Veloci's cause less reasonable.
In the show they use two weapons to cure mutants: a chiller which causes the primordial ooze to leak out of their skin from the freezing; and the devolver which sucks up the goo. This not only does not make sense but is needlessly complicated for the scenario. We are using serums and pathological research instead for a more realistic situation and giving room for suspension of disbelief.
In the TV show, Ms. Moynihan gives them a piece of collective ancestral memory which allows them to master their shapeshifting instantaneously. Instead we'll be having them master it slowly and allowing them to build up their skills.
In the show, Victor Veloci initially has success in creating perfect dinosaurs with animals but then throughout the rest of the series, the mutants are only half dinosaur. He explains this is because he doesn't know how to perfect the formula yet and needs those five perfect dinosaurs to master it once and for all. We will be throwing that out the window
Dinosaur designs have been made more accurate, and two characters (Roger and Rump) have gotten new forms. In the TV show, Roger was supposedly a styracosaurs and Rump was a hybrid. We changed them to what was above.
In the show Victor Veloci can never put it together that five recurring teenagers who constantly show up when those perfect dinosaurs appear are in some way connected. And that his long rival and archnemesis(Ms. Moynihan) has anything to do with it. We will also be changing that too.
Also in the show, the kids seem to be able to shapeshift freely as they please without any expenditure of energy. We will be changing this as well, especially to avoid having them shift into dinosaurs a dozen times in one single episode."

I didn't think Dino Squad was that bad. I enjoyed it enough to see the entire show. I love the art style. However the show did have problems. A friend of mine and I discussed about how the show likely suffered from either poor writers, people who just didn't care to tell a good story, or both. So the show had a good idea, but it suffered because it was never executed properly. The characters were too unbelievable and not well developed, they get so many facts wrong it's unbelievable, they try way too hard with the morals at times (and they don't always make sense), the show offered the stupidest explanation for how Moynihan and Veloci survived for millions of years, among other things.
My friend is working on her own rewrite of the show, and so did I. I forget if I posted it here, but I went through writing an article on how the show could be better. But really, it's not that hard to write a better Dino Squad when the actual writers for the show didn't put any effort in creating good characters and good stories.
Personally, I hope that Dino Squad is rebooted at some point in the future and taken over by a different company who will be able to handle it properly and have it live up to its full potential. And hopefully a company that isn't half-dedicated to trying to hammer education down kids' throats.
By the way, there's this guy called Spectrum Of Madness who has done analysis on multiple episodes of Dino Squad and he does a really good job at picking that show apart and pointing out so many flaws the show has. He makes it very obvious just how badly the episodes are written. I recommend you check out some of the stuff he wrote.
