I was curious about how well Prismacolor products blend with Gouache, so I did a few tests with layering. I'm hopeful I can use this technique (mentioned in a book about colored pencil techniques) to repair an image I've been working on. I haven't yet tried coloring a larger area yet with this method, but the test areas seemed to be a success. The markers seem to color over dried Gouache without really lifting any of the paint, so I'm hoping I won't ruin a marker. Hah, I'll find out soon enough.
Sorry if this is old news to some, I've just got to satisfy my curiosity. :)

I have yet to find someone who can show me how to use gouache correctly eye-to-eye. :) if I recall right it's to be used by layers? one layer after another until it has the right colour deepness?
I have a comission to do where I wanted to use a sepia inkwash with gouache, but I'm not sure if that would look like somethign worthwhile. what do you think?

I have a lot to learn about Gouache, but I believe you're correct about the layering technique. It dilutes quite nicely with water and seems to have the capability of being manipulated from a light wash to very rich colors.
I've never tried an ink wash with gouache before. Are you planning to paint over the ink wash with gouache? I may have some India ink left over that I can experiment with. I like your idea and I think a sepia ink wash with gouache would look quite nice together. Have you tried it out yet? (I know it was several days until I've replied.)

that's my plan, actually. something like many digital artists do: put down the shadings and shadows and structures and lay transparent colour over it.
I hope this works out. my ink has the avantage that it's waterproof once dry, so I actually lay it down in layers, too. it's easier than it sounds... :)

what's missing is the gouache colour. in case you wonder the original inkwash doesn't "glow" like that, it might be due to me having to photograph it; the sheet is a bit larger that my scanner (format B4), and the paper has a natural-white, yellowish taint.

dunno if I succeeded, but I think it doesn't look too bad. what do you think?
