In 1980, Clinton Spillsbury (remember him?) was chosen as the new Lone Ranger by the Powers That Be, and rode in that years Rose parade on New Years Day. It was a fiasco. A lot of the crowd booed and jeered him, and that was because Clayton Moore, the "real" Lone Ranger had, by the Powers That Be, had been forbidden to wear the domino mask forever more, amen, and when the public found out, they got sore about the unfairness of it. Plus, Spillsbury looked silly... Like a 5 year old in a dime store Halloween suit. So, in the end, Clayton Moore stayed the Lone Ranger, and Clinton Spillsbury was forgotten, and I got the idea for this cartoon.
