At last, after too long, with little touches and less time, I was finally able to finish this pic. Finally, something mine at least heheh ^ ^º
As the title says, this is a scene from the second volume where Orion´s father says that his time as the leader of Drakatos is comming to an end, and that Orion is the next one to take the throne as The Lord of Agazol, and King of Drakatos.
Unfortunately, Orion is not sure if he could be a good leader to guide Drakatos to a better life, not after his father made mistakes as leader on the first volume, where everyone was afraid of the dragons because of him.
So there you can see Orion all alone, sitting at the top of a pillar from some old temples, where no one get close to it, thinking as always, but in this case, decided what would be best for Drakatos and even for the people of Sephiria if he became one of the leaders.
This music inspired me to work at night until the end: Where We End Up from Eternal Sonata http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFIPivnclW4

I will work myself through different aspects of the artwork and give comments about it. This time in super-colour, too!
COMPOSITION:
The basic composition is a very fine "comic-cover-like" poster concept! The hero sitting on a high top... in this case: the gargoyle heads from an old architecture (maybe a gothic church or something like it).
The picture is mostly filled well; just the upper left corner seems a bit "lost", because it's so emtpy. This CAN cause a lot of tension, when we're talking about "use of space" and composition... but it can also backfire dramatically! ^^"
In this case, I'm sure that it was meant to be a "cover" artwork and... we would definitely have the "title font" right in this empty space, correct?
If that's true, I have nothing to argue about.
CHARACTER:
Orin... YOUR character! This is just like me drawing REPTILE... yes. I always prefer you drawing YOUR OWN characters and ORION is your "baby", after all. ^^"
His pose is pretty nice... he's relaxed BUT also wary of something going on down there. His whole body structure and design is well designed and drawn. His armor looks interesting and doesn't appear to be "overdone". ^_^
DETAILS:
The real NEW detail in this artwork is the gargoyle head, which you've drawn really cool! It looks like a believeable statue made of stone and you also managed to draw it... "not alive". I mean, it's hard to draw a face or head, which is made of stone!!! But you've done it. Superb! ^^
FLAWS / ERRORS:
There is but ONE aspect I want to express now.
I have followed your style and your improvements over the years... you've evolved from the "line art" style to a "coloured artworks with NO line art" style.
I don't know, maybe it's just me... but I miss line art. ^^"
Yes, I really miss lines here. At least some lines! It's very obvious at Orion's right arm or at all the parts of his armor.
Your latest style works EXCELLENT for flesh, cloth and surfaces... but somehow, the armor parts don't really work with NO line art, at all. At least that's my opinion.
Here is a suggestion:
You certainly know the DISNEY movies (not the CGI ones!!!) from good old times? They didn't use BLACK LINE ART (like I do), either... but they've used coloured line art!
I would suggest, that you still add some line art to your drwaings... to seperate armor parts or some body parts... but you do NOT use black lines, but coloured lines. Maybe, you can use... line art of the same colour as the body/armor part.
This way, you would have a very smooth seperation of details and still a "painting like" feeling. Of course, you should NOT use the black lines, like I do... you're over this. ^^
But just keep it in mind. Maybe, some coloure line art might work for you.
So then… this is it! Another large comment for a masterpiece like that.
Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!
And looks like my idea was clear enougn ^ ^ You´re right, the reason why I made this composition is because this is for a poster, in the empty space I´ll add the title "The Living Heart" on the upper left corner for a good presentation as a poster. But I decided not to put the title here XD
So you indeed miss the lineart, huh? heheh that´s interesting, I decided not to use them and to make organic pics but only in my special pics like these, with some pics I may add the lines, like the pic where there´re all my head shot characters (which I supposed to color it by reaching more of 200 pages XP)
But advice of the colored lines that match on the certain area sounds interesting, I know what do you mean about them, and perhaps I can give it a shot the pic which I mentioned it, I hope I can so it ^ ^º
And yeah, the gargoyle looks kinda like a dragon XD or maybe because I´m used to it, or maybe because Orion is in an old temple from the ancient drakanians heh. Either way, gargoyles are creatures that can be personalized on different ways, like human, demon, dragon, lion, etc, it depends in the concept of course ^ ^
I enjoy reading you comments, and I appreciate it ^ ^ But tell me something, do you know why in FA the pics liiks kinda blurring comparing with DA´s because I feel that my poc here is blurred ^ ^º
Thanks again man ^ ^
The statue is more a dragon, than a gargoyle... BUT there are only very few differences. ^^" Some people may also call it gargoyle, hehehehe.
But you know what I mean and that counts.
And I like you way of interpretate your feelings toward the image :D I really appreciate that you share this thoughs to me.
Though Batman or Spawn works too X3
you should really make an animation of him!!! he's damn awesome!!
