Your traditional work has a nice under-rendered quality to them though, I think if you can achieve the same thing for digital it will look more interesting? I guess the original photo has some pretty bland light to work with though.

I'm trying to figure out how you're doing this and I'm still baffled. I'm guessing it's something to do with the eyedropper and lowering the flow on the brush or something like that?

i use a a brush i made on 60% opacity for the base then some texture brushes even lower than that on their own separate layers. I think this has 50 layers or so altogether
