This works well as an illustration. As concept art, it works well as a mood piece or to help understand lighting/colours. If you want this concept art to work towards in-world designs, it could probably use more details.
Like I said, don't look at this and think it isn't effective. Between Richard Anderson, Daniel Dociu, Kekai Kotaki, and Jamie Jones there are many kinds of concept art!

I put a lot of work into composition of forms, colors and values in this piece, but not so much in the subject matter it self. I have no intention to make it a piece of concept art at that moment.
You're right, it appears weak as concept art. I would certainly try to carve out some more interesting details, and maybe put this in my concept art portfolio. Since it already have good mood, color pallet, and such. I can see the potential in it.

Found this in someone's faves and it blew my mind. I love impressionistic art, and the fantasy feel of this comes alive with the soft colours you used. I really enjoy the sketchiness if this, too- reminds me of the painted "sketches" Ralph McQuarrie did as the basis for concept-paintings and backdrops for the first first Star Wars films. I have to say this piece rocks.
