It's a... err... Horned lizard + murloc!
This guy doesn't need a mudflap.
(I was amused by the term used to designate an MTB without rear suspension.)

Yes, it depends. Full suspesion for freeride and downhill is a must. But for XC i'd preffer a hardtail - weight counts more than grip. And hardtail performs better in mud - you feel the back wheel much better and the rigidity allows the wheel to sink into the mud to reach the ground better. Then again, if there's alot of rought ground, roots and such - it's straight-out tiring. My only argument is price. If funds are limited, you get good components when opting hardtail and crap if it's full-susp. Good fork, brakes and drivetrain make a bigger difference.
You're not noob if you can trackstand, manual (front wheel too; i forgot what it's named; wheely?) and bunny-hop. (imho, anyone who cycles should have those skills :)

Did you loose interest or was it because of injury?
Kind of weird - I met 3 people this summer who were into BMX, but had quit due to injuries.
I kind of stopped doing tricks on my XC setup (I'm poor :P) at about the same time. But I just lost interest. Now my fun consists of commuting alone: wet ice + worn non-winter tires = heaps of fun. :]

I have lost interest. I was always lucky, or careful, and never got seriously injured. Now transforming myself into a potato at the monitor screen is my sport.
Sometimes i want to ride, but my few parts in my bike need to be replaced. I have no will and money to do that.
Bikes need passion.
