Ahh, FL Studio.
You don't have horrible skills, but no matter what one does to their sounds in fl studio, they always render sounding tinny and cheap. it's bad programming, and not your fault. A good idea to try and develop is to perhaps export each track as a midi file then recompile in another program with better synth and rendering, such as cubase, ableton live!, or cakewalk sonar, or something that may suit you better since you seem to like step composing if you use fruity; propellerheads REASON. These all have better rendering capabilities, and I think you can do more with your sounds.

Hm, are you referring to the beats themselves? or the song in general? Each drumloop was exported after I was finished with it and mastered in acid6. But it's possibly my loops themselves are lacking in quality. My beginning samples were a bit lame. I have reason, can you suggest any good techniques/synths/drumpatches for doing so?
The song in general. The way fruityloops and all of it's successors including the latest releases of FL studio have horrible rendering of sounds and synths. It's simply the soundscales that it exports in all of it's formats (save raw midi patches exported) that makes absolutely everything have a tinniness to it. So no matter what you do, you hear a song made with fruity and rendered sounds(even if imported into other programs after) you can still point and say 'fruity song'.
