Here cropped image of a pic of K9 with an ion beam gun I started several days ago. Its unfinished as I need to draw the rest of the image (which features K9 shooting/cutting the arm off an enemy MCS that has him pinned to the ground) and add shading. There's going to be lots of shading as I want the beam of the ion gun to look bright. Oh, and I'll also redo his face - it looks too cartoony to me and doesn't match the seriousness of the image.

I'm all about techy designs, but I can see that you're falling into a pit I fall into all the fuckin' time.
Not everyone holds their weapon at a 2-D profile shot from the viewer. Just letting you know. :P
Doing a perspective exercise with just the prop alone (remember that dot, the ruler, lines connecting to that dot and building shapes out of the guidelines? Often reminds me of a collection of bricks in inter-stellar traffic.)
Just saying this to be advisory.
