I'm still working on their concept but the jems on their head and tail are a way for controlling/building up psychic abilities. The gems glows brightly when in use, and grow in many different formations (multiple on head, can have many spines of gem protruding from tail, etc). Their eyes usually are the same colour as the gems (it means a stronger ability/link to psychic abilities). If the tail gem is smashed all psychic abilities are lost, and Psyoxes and most likely to die (as they generally depend on their abilities to live). Their heghts vary greatly, along with fur patterns and abilities (ranging from telekinesis to being able to control nearby weather patterns - think Xmen?)
