Slissas were (slightly) bigger and tougher a long time ago until driven underground, where they evolved tougher claws and got (more) widdle.

This is the first time I've drawn with a real pencil and paper since a good bit before Tezakia, and I kind of surprised myself with how smooth my lines came out and how little erasing I ended up needing. I mean, I've grown so dependent on Sai's tools I figured I would super choke without them.
Interestingly, since this is the first time I've used real medium in 3 years, one could go find the last thing I penciled and directly witness the changes Tezakia and tgchan have had on my ability.
Slissas are in the process of having their design modernized. In this one, I gave them thinner arms and actual hands (previously they had tube arms that just...had spikes come out to be fingers). Their longer tail finally shows up here as well.

Seeing this evolution is pretty cool!
The only thing that strikes me as being slightly odd about the more-recently-evolved design is the long horns - I'm not sure now useful they would be in more of a tunneling / burrowing lifestyle. I guess they could maybe act like whiskers though, especially if they were movable? Of course, they could always just be vestigial.
And out of curiosity, were the ancient Slissas also intelligent, or were they like, ape-level or worse?
I really want to hug both of them. :(
