I would love for you to explain the title to me.

A lot of times I don't name the piece after something relevant to the piece itself but moreso for thoughts that I had while drawing it. This one was a bit inspired on the chapters I had just read of the book 1Q84 in which one of the characters starts evaluating themselves and where they are and why they are there and it made me start thinking about the loss of identity if you are closed off from the outside world for a large amount of time, while the piece itself plays a bit with dementia in mind the title more so comes from the idea of who we become if we are disillusioned from reality. If that makes any sort of sense!

I very much think it does. I now get pretty strong self-alienation vibes from the picture, too. your mentioning 1q84 also reminds me I still have a murakami to finish. don't know why I stopped reading it like, two years ago. AND I still haven't read 1984, damn. but anyway, lovely piece, and thank you for the explanation.

Ooh which one were ya reading? His books can be like t hat though. I started 1Q84 almost a year ago then just stopped. His writing at least to me feels as though it requires a certain mindset to really appreciate and get into.

Oh wow that's the one I plan on reading next. Out of his books it is one of the few I haven't read yet and it's just been sitting on my shelf for over a year! I felt the same way with 1Q84 - no idea why I would've stopped reading it but when I picked it up again I read a third of it in a day haha!

I think I'll just read through all of murakami's work this semester. should be able to borrow all the books from my siblings. somehow, you really seem to have brought me back to the guy. I'll let him know if I meet him sometime.
