A very old piece that I did in 1972, for the opening of Canada's first SF bookstore, Bakka, in Toronto. It was a shelf sign for a while until I realized how stupid it was to use original artwork as a sign, exposing it to damage. Then I took it home. The bristol had yellowed and the marker ink had faded badly in spots, so it took a fair amount of restoration with Photoshop. It probably didn't look quite this good even when it was new!

Perhaps... although different models used in the show seemed each a little different. And different again from the more detailed models in the movies. The "Discovery" from 2001 is no stickler for accuracy either -- finding a still shot of the ship from the side, like this, was literally impossible in 1972. There were no VHS or DVD copies of the movie to freeze-frame, only film. Nor any internet to search for production drawings. Hell, there weren't even any books on the film with stills, except one paperback. You had to look at crappy little b/w photos and do what you could to envision it from a different angle and eliminate perspective. And you were worried about the saucer section of the "Enterprise" being a little thin ...
Dear lord you sound like a jackass! Whats the bloody point of pretending you know the exact width of the saucher of a starship? You'll come across as a nitpicker at best and an insufferable nerd at worst. Espescially since it's well within the margin of error, accounting for differences in design or artstyle. Also, its been already said, but did it escape your notice when this thing was drawn?
I have no idea what a Syreen Penetrator is. I take it you mean the slender job with the three fins. Actually, its a model I scratch built out of parts. The rocket body is the nose of a Boeing SST (which was never built), and the fins are cut from sheet plastic. I painted it white overall and detailed the body with a set of very fine tipped brush-pens (in different colours). Later I added a large bell-shaped rocket nozzle. In essense it's a Chesley Bonestell type space ship.
