Oh yes! It was so hard to say goodbye to this little guy.... If I wasn't really busy that weekend I would've kept him. He still hangs around my sister's yard, and plays with the alley cats.

I always though possum were vicious animals, this little one doesn't seem so much like that at all! so adorable <3

They can be, I won't handle wild adults.... Well... I wouldn't handle them more than just relocating them....
The young ones are more ignorant to humans, so they lack fear. This one didn't even run when I get him go, he waddled off once some alley cats started pawing at him.

I caught another juvenile that was pissed about me holding it, but not really afraid, just defensive, even though it didn't snap or bite.

They're legal in many states, exotic petstores shouldn't have trouble finding a breeder for you. :>

Actually, possums have such crazy immune systems (since they eat carrion) that they pretty much cannot carry rabies, among other diseases. :p

If you live near Florida, I know there are several breeders there, Maryland, Jersey, and maybe Alabama(?) also have a few breeders

Vulture, you'll need to get special training for, unless you get it.. *cough* not exactly legally...
(well, that's American species at least, but I'd imagine species from other countries wouldn't be cheap... )

i've only seen one opossum up close and personal, and thats because i was moving it out of the road so people stopped running it over @n@

I see them all the time :p
My sister feeds the alley cats at her house and the possums and raccoons steal the kibble, since they are fed the young ones aren't afraid.
I separate the edible garbage at my house, so they don't see me as a treat (Not that I'm a possum whisperer or anything, I just don't threaten them so they ignore me)
