Ever seen those little Kilroy Was Here doodles?

They were all over the place in the 40s. Legend has it that Kilroy was a shipyard inspector and chalked his mark in nigh-unreachable chunks of liberty ships, where GIs would see it on their way overseas. And if Kilroy could be *there*, where couldn't Kilroy show up next? My grandfather, who was that generation, used to draw little Kilroy Was Here doodles on letters he sent when I was a kid.
