I took this photo some time ago and it has been sat on my pc and i have forgoten the species it was though i think i remember them saying it was a male. it was quite a small bird too far smaller than the barn owl by it bgut i dont rember fully

Sry, Im a big owl Fan, so Its quite difficult for me to understand why people dont now Owl Species, just like saying Dog to an Cat.

I know thats one of the rare things that sounds stupid in English... In Germany we say Steinkauz, correct translation would be stone owl, well sounds stupid to xD
After all you were close, the burrowing owl is in Athene Noctuas Family, but they are more Brown than grey

awww i would die to be that up close with birds. i did once at a falconeer show. a black vulture was right in front from wehre i sat literally a foot or two. i wanted to touch it, but it was playing with a toy...:( and it did chase around teh stars of the show. violently..
