Here's some new material related to my game project. Been trying to settle on some more specific monster designs, including their appearance, but also their in-game mechanics. These are rough sketches for some of them, and I'll likely be posting more soon. Most of these are still subject to changes ( design, mechanics etc. ) and I might replace some of them entirely, but it's a start...

The first of these guys is essentially an undead suicide bomber, and will detonate in a cloud of toxic gas upon contact with the player. I'll probably exaggerate the proportions some more, for the final version.
I don't actually have specific plans for the second creature, except that it seems to be missing its lower body... XD
Might be interesting if they were capable of grabbing the ankles of the player's character, thus making it temporarily impossible for them to run away, and allowing other creatures to close in and surround the player... :D

Heh heh... One thing I'm trying to do, is to make every creature fairly unique, in terms of looks and gameplay mechanics. This is mostly so I don't get bored, since I'll have to draw and animate all of these buggers. But of course it should also keep the game more interesting for the player. In too many games you have dozens of differently looking monsters, but in the end they work ( and die ) more or less in the same way. :/
If I add another, more "generic" zombie creature I'll make sure to have it behave differently from the other monsters in the game, so the player will have to use different tactics for every monster constellation he encounters. ( At least that's the idea. )

I wouldn't even put it that way -- if anything, it just takes a little more thought, to figure everything out and get it right. Effort-wise, it should actually be "easier", if only because there's less repetition. I think I'd find it a lot harder if I had to code and animate 10 different creatures which all looked and behaved in similar ways.
