Basically, since journals are no good most of the time I thought I'd make a notice through this instead, including a bit of pixel work! Basically this concerns both the Koopalings and a bunch of my own OCs.
Basically, first thing to wonder is: which group should all be related. So considering the Koopalings as Bowser's kids or lumping my group together. So here's the main points from this:
Pros of Koopalings Bowser's kids:
-more in line with what people know.
-excuse to try and give Bowser Jr a bunch of his own character traits... after all, wanting to be just like your dad is a lot of pressure, isn't it? Also developing a sorta-reason why he'd be the odd one out (besides being Bowser Jr).
Pros of Koopalings not being Bowser's kids:
-More in line with what Ninty intended.
-Probably makes jr special off the bat
-each of the Koopalings can have their own little histories before joining the troop and an actual reason why they were seemingly treated like Bowsers' own kids. They'd still be close with him and each other though.
As for my own OCs (I guess I'll call 'em the Gloopa Gang for now)
Pros of being siblings:
-More in line with how they were originally (most of them have actually been around a while and are getting reinvented slightly. The only main differences so far happen to be colours, the names of one or two and the one I never used much is now a girl... also extra sister so an equal ratio of boys to girls)
Pros of not being siblings:
-Like the Koopalings, without family relations they can each get their own histories.
-I was sorta-planning on establishing relations between some of them~ one of them involving Flynn and the other being an M/M relationship
-because they won't be siblings, that'll mean I can play the Koopalings as Bowser's kids, which people seem to prefer
Anyways, I'd kinda like to hear some thoughts on this. Someone help a Nido out? <:3 If this goes well, I might do advice panels or whatever for some other things (like MLP... or specifically the "world" where my pony tumblr, The Peckish Pony, takes place)

Read this, bud.
It's a long article. Some things from it may apply, some maybe doesnt apply to your characters, but always -always- should have the tips of this in mind when designing a new character that you will feel proud of calling "my OC".
