Laylong started off as human and this was what I drew to sort of transition him into what I started drawing for his fox form. The reason is Laylong is a Dire*. He still has the human form available, but not as his true form. I had a lot of fun coloring this one :3


*Dires are demi-immortal guardians of their respective families. A Dire fox for example has rule and protection over any canid just as much as a Dire wolf. Up to a certain amount of damage, they can survive and regenerate flesh and bone. They are reborn every 100 years in a cycle of different bodies. First rebirth is their same species but opposite sex. Then is their Dire form's species, once as original gender, followed by opposite. They can not live longer than 80 years, and must spend at least 10 years being purified by Hell's flames in order to be reborn. Most Dire's carry a heirloom to pass onto kin to retrieve when reborn. Laylong's happens to be a pocket watch with an embossed red fox bust facing the left on it, and a light grey foxprint on the face of the watch. It's made of pure silver and has to be hand-wound once every 5 days.
