I think his name is a play on words for him being a rookie...
He's not avian tho, just a teenage lookin alien guy...

The RSPB is the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, a charity. They do some good work ^^

And since you don't get the CN (I figured to ask, since I met someone from South America who was likewise unaquainted with Cartoon Network) and had never heard of The Loony Toons Show.
I take it that you haven't seen the show either? Well that's where the Daffy in his girlfriend's skirt came from as well as Porky lying naked on her kitchen table... Boy the stuff they can get away with on children's shows these days... And yet there is still plenty they can't do that they used to back in the day...

We do get it here, but I can't really afford cable ^^;. I loved it when I was growing up though.

I might draw Kazooie sometime soon, but I feel like I should wait a bit until I'm a little better. She might say something mean if I don't draw her well enough. Would love to see your take on her, though. Other characters I'd like to see are Wile E and Roadrunner, if you feel like drawing them sometime. Only if you feel like it, of course ^^.

By the way, forgot to say thanks for commenting on this. It doesn't look like hours worth of work, but it was ^^;. I only drew it for myself, but still, to get 0 comments and 0 views was a little disheartening...

I really like your style. Don't get disheartened, I'll fave ya, so hopefully you'll get a few more view and comments! I too wish more people would take the time to send me some comments, tho it's shaping up a bit as I'm making friends here.
I would love to draw Roadrunner and Wile E., I am looking forward to the next time they appear on the new show, tho they are done in CG, and not in traditional art style, so I'll have to search for source material on the net.
Untill I can get a paypal, I am still looking to draw things for others for free... gotta gain that fanbase before I start looking to get paid...

Also, something that occured to me looking at Rook again, don't birds have another toe/tallon in the back? like a peacesign, ya know?

You're right about the talon, but I decided to leave it out. I thought it might look a bit weird. My next bird will have it though!

Other than that, his tail is a bit pointy, that could be your style, but you could make it more feathery, and I don't know abot crows, but Daffy duck has holes in his beak for nostrils...
And perhaps some eyebrows, or at least a brow... Check out Daffy's for example for the kind without having seperate physical humanoid eyebrows...
Crest and chest-plume look good...
His leg ridges look authentic, where they come out of his body looks great as well
And the toes/talons do look good, dispite the lack of the back one...
and the rounding of the beak certainly adds to making him look cute^.^

Thanks for the critique! I actually stuck to the way his artist drew the head, including the beak and eyes. If I draw him again I think I'll try doing it my own way, with your suggestions.

I did come up with the rest of him on my own though, since references were scarce. Glad you like the legs... They were a pain, I kept getting them wrong. I'd say my biggest problem was the shading though... That's still beyond me ^^;.

Overall I had a really hard time with the toony style. I liked it, but I think I'll do something a bit more realistic next time and see how it turns out.

Looking carefully I do see your shading, it is rather good... I have never been one for shading much either...
I only occasionally draw in the shading from the source material.
I haven't done many original drawings, so I commend you on doing so well if you had to improvise the rest of his body.
There is another show on CN called Regular Show, it features a Blue-Jay named Mordecai and a racoon named Rigby who work in the town park, and have unusual things happen to them every episode. their show's tag-line is Regular Show "It's anything but" and their world is strangely populated with a smattering of other furry characters, and more humans that animals for some reason... though there are still non anthro animals, like ducks and stuff, and there was a zoo mentioned in another episode... The show is strange and cool. I am planning on drawing something from it real soon, like hopefully today... I hope.
Good luck making him in a realistic style, I'm sure it will be quite the challenge!
