The woods were quite a site when the light disappeared and the cold moon rose over the horizon. They looked nothing short of haunted with the fireflies that blinked on and of like glowering eyes beneath the shadowy trees. Brett wasn't sure how he had found himself in the heart of the woods, something had just drawn him out here. He had been soundly asleep when some unknown force woke him and pulled him gently into the woods, deeper and deeper as the hours ticked by. He moved as if in a trance, unaware of what was going on.
It was not until he had reached a moonlit clearing that he snapped out of whatever daze he had been in and realized just where he was.
"How did I get in the middle of the woods?" he wondered, eyes searching around franticaly. Everything around the clearing looked exactly the same, how the heck was he supposed to get out of here? And why was he even here in the first place? It was during these frantic thoughts that he heard the snapping of branches coming from very close to him. His eyes immediatly shot to the source of the sound, mouth gaping open as he watched a rather large, rather eerie looking creature step forth from the brush.
It had the body of a wolf, though it was almost six feet tall. It's head was hidden in a black shadowy cloud, and the beast carried the stench of rotten flesh with it. Somehow though, Brett was drawn towards it. He felt his feet begin to take slow steps towards the creature; this must have been what had drawn him into the woods. Another branch break snapped Brett once more out of his trance and somehow he got the sense into his head to run. He bolted out of the clearing and into the trees, no idea where he was heading. All he knew was that he had to get away from this beast.
He heard heavy footsteps following behind him, catching up to him effortlessly. But when Brett looked back, there was nothing behind him. He was alone again in the moonlit woods. Nothing seemed off or astray. Maybe this was all just a nightmare...
