In the depths of the royal palace, the princesses found a strange artifact. To anyone, it looked like a simple mirror. When those looked into it, they only saw a reflection of themselves. However, some of the mages of Canterlot discovered something else. They saw what looked to be images...almost like they were viewing a window into another world.
But by golly, did that world look drab. It looked darker, almost. But the people of this world looked completely alien to the equine residents. The most comparable species of Equestria they had were the occasional minotaur. They were about as tall, and looked built the same. These people were almost never seen without clothes, and were completely earthbound. No magic, no flight, nothing. It looked like a monotonous species almost.
Further investigation into these people showed many similarities to ponykind. They laughed, they spoke, they socialized each other. But it was not enough. These bouts seemed to be rare. Something was wrong with these people. Could it have been a result of the drab world that they lived in?
Research stopped, until Princess Luna returned and asked about the status of this. She had to wonder if maybe the fact that the Elements of Harmony did not extend their reach to the world may have been why these strange minotaur-like folk were so drab. Undercover, some ponies vanished to this world, and discovered how many people were seemingly affected by something else. The absolute opposite of Harmony.
Disharmony.
They retreated back, having horror stories about being stripped of their magic and having to walk on two legs much like a minotaur. Curiously, Twilight Sparkle walked through the mirror into this strange world and found herself retaining her own form. It was then that it became obvious - the Elements of Harmony allowed one to retain their own form in another world. Including this world rich in Disharmony.
Both princesses made a plan with each the holders of the Elements of Harmony. They would enter this world and try to bring back someone who could be saved. To have their fates from a Disharmonic world altered. Thus came the title of this mirror.
The Mirror of Fate Alteration.
Pinkie Pie, as the holder of the Element of Laughter, was sent through to cheer up a standard depressed person from this world who would have had a poor fate. He was given the nickname "Sour Steel" for his rather sour personality and aversion to laughter. After spending some time being his Pink Personal Hell, Pinkie Pie made him Pinkie Promise to follow her to Equestria. He was a bit skeptical when she hopped through the window, but he found that he could put his own hand through. It felt quite numb, and he spent a little time playing with this strange mirror - hand goes in, hand goes out. After a few times, a strange forced grabbed his hand and started to pull him through. That was Twilight Sparkle.
Yeah, I'm more of a writer, not an artist. it's my first time drawing a pony. (Not TF - I've drawn that a few times.) It's a scene from "Pink Personal Hell And Altering Fate".
Now I get myself shot by a bunch of anti-brony monomaniacs and have a bunch of brony monomaniacs faving it because it's good, or bashing it cause it's not drawn well enough or because I'm not drawing their fetish being worked with ponies.
