More experimenting with my Bamboo tablet and some custom brushes. Some of the stuff probably went a little too far, but that's what experimenting is for!
But don't worry about the pup. He'll just go home and have a mess o' somethin' after this debacle!

nuclear_fusion was good enough to sit through a Skype session with me while I coloured this. Always more fun to do when a crossfox is providing good conversation all the while! ^^

Looooooooove it <3 Glad to see everything turned out fine even after the comp crash.
Now, you're being critical of the brushes, but I really think it worked wonders. The highlighting and shadow looks like it's either fuzzy or landing on uneven fur, both of which work nicely for the picture. It especially helps that you've got the smoother shadow on the chest/shirt to really sell the illusion.
Next we get you doing more interesting backgrounds :D
