This is a biro / ballpoint pen drawing of a red deer I've been working on. The image is an A3 composition, which I've spent time working into in order to improve my figurative techniques. I enjoy working in this way, it's rather like knapping flint. I used hatch and cross hatch techniques primarily.

O hay I saw this on the front page earlier.
It stands out to me that his forearm is very long but not in a way that appears on purpose because the other forearm is not as long (so, the one holding the staff is the longest). I'm not 100% sure where the light is coming from since it looks to me like the source of light on the head is different from the source of light on the body, but then I stare at it to try and point out why and I can't figure out why.
On the other hand it has a developed sense of form and the musculature is what makes this interesting to look at, to me. :D

Thanks for the criticism, I made the right arm a little bigger to try to hint at some perspective, but I think I went over the top, so I won't do that in future drawings.
There are multiple light sources, because I drew from references in rooms with mirrors in them. Simpler lighting compositions could be better for further drawings then? :]
Thankyou. ^^
